LPICO held its annual board meeting, on Jan. 17, 2021. During the meeting, we reviewed some highlights from 2020. While it was a tough year, we were able to continue our mission raising awareness about premature birth and cost effective resources that can give preemies a fighting chance.

Through a generous in-kind donation, LPICO will now include swaddle blankets in select preemie care bags. We've also upgraded our preemie brochures to include information about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and instructions on how placing the baby on their back minimizes the risk of SIDS.

As we move forward, in 2021, the LPICO board has set several goals and milestones. For example, LPICO plans to ship and distribute 100 bags in Liberia; we are currently looking for a new clinic or distribution partner in Pakistan; and we're planning a virtual event for Preemie Awareness Month to raise funds for our first NICU center. The organization has lots of exciting ideas for 2021.
